Andreas Vesalius published De Humani Corporis Fabrica at age 28—exposing hundreds of errors in Galen's anatomy. The difference? Galen dissected animals. Vesalius actually dissected humans, publicly, in packed lecture theaters.

His atlas contained magnificently detailed illustrations that remained the standard for centuries. He was attacked by Galenist physicians and eventually became court physician to Emperor Charles V.
