Sukarno was the founding father of Indonesia who declared independence from the Dutch in 1945, unified the world's largest archipelago, and co-founded the Non-Aligned Movement with Nehru and Nasser. He was increasingly authoritarian and was overthrown by General Suharto in 1965-66.
