Ernesto 'Che' Guevara was an Argentine doctor who joined Castro's guerrilla movement, became a key figure in the Cuban Revolution, served as Cuba's minister of industries, then left to export revolution to Congo and Bolivia, where he was captured and executed by the Bolivian army (with CIA assistance) at age 39.

His image—based on Alberto Korda's famous photograph—became the most reproduced photo in history, adorning T-shirts, posters, and dorm rooms worldwide. He is simultaneously a romantic revolutionary icon and a controversial figure who oversaw executions and prison camps.
