Hideyoshi was history's greatest rags-to-riches story in feudal Japan. Born a peasant, he rose through Nobunaga's ranks through brilliance and charm, then completed Japan's unification after Nobunaga's death. He built Osaka Castle, invaded Korea twice, and created the rigid social class system that lasted until 1868.
