Suryavarman II built Angkor Wat—a temple complex covering 400 acres, the largest religious structure ever built. It was originally a Hindu temple dedicated to Vishnu and later converted to Buddhism. He expanded the Khmer Empire through wars against the Cham and Dai Viet (Vietnam).
