Mozi founded Mohism, which argued for universal impartial love (jian ai) — loving all people equally, not just family and clan — and opposed aggressive warfare, extravagant funerals, and Confucian ritual. Mohists were also skilled engineers who developed siege defense technology.
Mohism was one of the major schools of Chinese philosophy before being suppressed by the Qin dynasty.
