Khalid initially fought AGAINST Muhammad at the Battle of Uhud, then converted to Islam and became its greatest military commander. He defeated the Byzantine Empire and Sassanid Persia simultaneously, never losing a single battle in over 100 engagements.

He was so successful that Caliph Umar dismissed him—not for failure, but because Umar feared the army worshipped Khalid more than God. Khalid accepted demotion without protest and died in bed, lamenting: 'I die in my bed like cattle. May the eyes of cowards never sleep.'
