Boudicca was queen of the Iceni tribe in Roman Britain. After her husband died, the Romans seized her lands, flogged her, and raped her daughters. She raised an army of 230,000 Britons and destroyed Colchester, London, and St Albans—killing an estimated 80,000 Romans and Roman-allied Britons.
She was eventually defeated by the Roman governor Paulinus at the Battle of Watling Street, where Roman discipline overcame Celtic numbers. She either died in battle or took poison. She's a British national hero—her statue stands outside Parliament.
