Koch is an electrical engineer who spent 328 days aboard the ISS—the longest continuous spaceflight by a woman. She conducted six spacewalks including the first all-female spacewalk with Jessica Meir in October 2019.

She is selected for Artemis II, the first crewed mission around the Moon since Apollo 17—making her one of the first humans to return to lunar space in over 50 years. She previously worked at Palmer Station in Antarctica.
